Summary of Job: City of Beloit has an opportunity available in the Water Resources Division of the Department of Public Works. The City is seeking experienced and skilled candidates to fill the position of Wastewater Operator I or II. This position is responsible for operation, repair and maintenance of the water pollution control facilities. This includes performing routine process control tests, diagnosing operating problems and suggesting corrective action.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Wastewater Operator I
High School Diploma or equivalent
A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or the ability to obtain within (6) six months of hire.
Certification as a Wisconsin Wastewater Operator-In-Training (OIT) from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources or the ability to obtain certification within 12 months of hire.
Experience in industrial equipment maintenance and municipal wastewater preferred.
Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.
Wastewater Operator II
High School Diploma or equivalent
A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with “N” tank vehicle endorsement or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
Certification as a Wisconsin Wastewater Basic Operator from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in at least two (2) relevant subclasses is required.
A minimum of one (1) year of responsible work experience in municipal wastewater required.
Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.
