WATER UTILITY TECHNICIAN-DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS: WATER DIVISION

City of Watertown Water Utility is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Water Utility Technician.
This position’s duties involve responsibility to perform all specialized functions and tasks for the installation, removal, maintenance, repair, operation, and inspection of an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system and Cross Connection Control projects. This includes all water meters in residential, industrial, and commercial property; investigate customer complaints and delinquent accounts; and read meters. Must also perform a variety of manual, monitoring, testing and reporting functions to ensure proper operation of the water supply system in accordance with State and Federal drinking water standards. Will also serve as relief Water Operator, or Water Distribution Technician when required; must be capable of working as part of a team. Needs to have knowledge of computer systems; be available for emergency calls, and ability to work weekends & overtime as needed on a rotating schedule.
Qualifications: Wisconsin driver’s license, high school diploma and 3 years’ experience in trade, vocational or technical school degree/courses in related fields and/or experience along with knowledge and training in plumbing and water system infrastructure is desirable. Ability to obtain Wisconsin DNR Waterworks certifications / license in subclass groundwater, distribution & a Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services cross connection control tester license.
This is a full-time hourly position with current normal work hours from 7 am to 3 pm Monday – Friday with a weekend rotation schedule. Application review will start January 2, 2025 ending at 4:00 p.m. For an application form, please see the city website at www.watertownwi.gov or call 920-262-4058.
Starting compensation is $22.16 to $23.42, DOQ. This is a full-time position with Medical, Dental, Vision, Income Continuation Insurance, Flex Spending, WRS pension, Deferred Compensation, Holidays, Paid Sick Time, Vacation Time available on date of hire, and Tuition Reimbursement.
