DNR New Grant Program: The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources recently launched a new grant program that offers funding to other-than-municipal community (OTM) and nonprofit non-transient non-community (NN) public water systems with an active maximum contaminant level (MCL) violation, treatment technique (TT) violation, or lead action level exceedance (ALE) to provide safer water to their communities. The rolling application period opens September 3rd and closes December 3rd. Interested applicants can visit Underserved Drinking Water System Grant Program for more information. Oconto Falls awarded $1 million grant to help reconstruct Columbia Street – The project will result in the full reconstruction of the street from Chestnut Avenue to Farm Road, as well as new curb and gutter, new sidewalk, new waterlines, new storm sewer, new wastewater lines and a new lift station, which helps move the sewer and water waste. $4 million in grants awarded locally – On Aug. 1, Gov. Tony Evers awarded $20.7 million in grants to 22 municipalities for public improvement projects across Wisconsin. The Community Development Block Grant Public Facility grants are administered by the Wisconsin Department of Administration for critical public infrastructure projects in low- to moderate-income communities with populations of 50,000 or fewer throughout the state. Projects include improvements, repairs, or expansions of streets, drainage systems, water and sewer systems, and other community facilities. $4 million in grants awarded locally (wiscnews.com)
