Industrial Pretreatment Coordinator

City of Fond du Lac is accepting applications for the position of Industrial Pretreatment Coordinator.  This full-time position reports directly to the Wastewater Superintendent and will maintain an organized pretreatment program to ensure all facets of the Industrial Pre-Treatment program is maintained and meets the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Agency guidelines for regulated industries.

The primary purpose is the collection of wastewater samples from local industries, sanitary districts and the wastewater plant for compliance sampling established by the EPA and DNR, and for billing purposes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Communicate directly with industries and their management staff for pre-treatment program.
  • Annual and semi-annual industrial compliance reports completed.
  • Yearly inspections of permitted industries.
  • Maintain all files required for pre-treatment program.
  • Industrial violations processed and fines issued.
  • Mercury Minimization Program.
  • Sanitary District Monitoring/Communication.
  • Monitoring/Sampling of industries as required by permit.
  • Delivering Samples for Analysis.
  • Instrumentation – Maintenance/Cleaning.
  • Inventory/Budgeting.
  • Special Projects – assist on pilot and watershed sampling and soil sampling of farm fields for land application of biosolids; involved in sample collection, documentation, and transport of samples. Involved in any additional sampling/monitoring including: biosolids program.
  • Industry Inspections – Outside of Program.
  • Lab Assistance.

Qualifications

  • 2-year Water/Wastewater Associate degree or 4-year degree in biology, chemistry, or related field.
  • Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.
  • DNR Operators License: Collection System (SS) preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.

SCHEDULE:  Monday – Thursday (6:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.); Friday (6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.)

SALARY RANGE: We offer a competitive compensation package ($27.92 – $31.91/hour; $34.57 – $38.84/hour with employer health benefits and WRS match) based upon knowledge, skills, and abilities with potential to receive additional step increases based on meeting and/or exceeding goals/expectations; annual COLA and step increases pending City Council approval of budgets; and future promotional opportunities in alignment with succession and career path.
