Join Our Team as a Maintenance Mechanic in our Public Works Department

Pay Range $29.11 – $33.27 hourly

Are you a skilled mechanic looking to make a difference in your community? Join us at the City of Oshkosh as a Maintenance Mechanic within our Wastewater Treatment Plant. This dynamic role requires you to perform essential mechanical repairs and maintenance in both the plant and lift stations, ensuring the smooth operation of crucial machinery and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Repairs and Maintenance: Repair and replace packing in pumps and valves, adjust impeller clearances. Rebuild pumps, gear boxes, motors, and adjust hydraulic systems.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to call-outs during emergencies.
  • Welding and Equipment Setup: Use gas/arc welding for various applications. Install and troubleshoot new equipment.
  • General Maintenance Tasks: Plumbing, pipe fitting, and light carpentry. Use machine tools for parts fabrication Maintain computerized records and order materials. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and training requirements.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical maintenance work involving the rebuilding of pumps, motors, gear boxes, transmissions, and related equipment. Previous experience in the water or wastewater field is preferred.
  • License: Valid Driver’s License
