POSITION TITLE:   Public Works Director

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Working Director position, overseeing maintenance of Village streets, sewer and stormwater facilities, parks, and wastewater treatment plant
  • Supervises three full-time employees, plus additional seasonal staff
  • Develops and manages department operating and capital improvement budgets
  • Operates a variety of light and heavy equipment, including front end loader, snow plow, jet truck, brush chipper, etc.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Five years of experience in public works or related field with at least three years of supervision experience
  • Associates Degree in civil or environmental engineering, construction management, or other closely related field
  • Valid commercial driver’s license in the State of Wisconsin
  • Wisconsin DNR Wastewater Operator License or ability to obtain license

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:  Must reside within a 30-minute response time to the Village of New Glarus.

COMPENSATION: Starting salary will be $33 to $36 per hour, based on experience, plus excellent benefits including participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System, competitive health and dental plan, 11 paid holidays, paid parental leave, and more.
