Village of Bangor, located 30 minutes from downtown La Crosse and 15 minutes from Onalaska, is seeking to fill the full-time position of Public Works Operator. This is a 40-hour-per-week position with a rotating on-call schedule that includes weekends and occasional nights.

The Public Works Operator must be able to perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled duties in the operation of the Public Works Department, Sewer, and Water Utilities. The employee must be able to operate vehicles, tools, and equipment used to maintain and repair Village grounds and facilities, water and sewer systems, streets, and other construction-related activities. Work is performed under the direction and supervision of the Director of Public Works.

Preference will be given to candidates with Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource water and wastewater certifications. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, is not afraid of taking on new challenges and someone that enjoys being part of a team.  The Village is willing to train the right person that fits this description.  The successful candidate must obtain a Commercial Drivers License within six months of employment. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

The starting pay range for the Public Works Operator is $24.00 to $26.00 per hour. Additional hourly compensation is available with certifications. Full-time employees are eligible for benefits such as health, dental, and life insurance plans, participation in the WRS retirement program, comp time off, and sick leave.
