General Job Description:

A William Reid Service Technician is a skilled, and flexible technician that can work on a variety of products and provide excellent customer service. William Reid represents over 60 manufacturers and a Service Technician will be responsible for learning a variety of skills to work on the equipment that we represent. A Service Technician will predominantly work at a customer’s location to install, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment pertaining to the water and wastewater industry. A Service Technician will need to be able to draw from their knowledge base and use creative, analytical thinking to provide excellent service to customers. At WR, we expect that our Service Technicians will be able to draw on a knowledge base of water, wastewater, electrical, and mechanical abilities.

They need to be able to communicate effectively to ensure customer satisfaction and retention. We also expect that they will communicate customers’ needs internally, so the correct department is aware of actions that need to be taken.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Traveling to appointments at customer job sites and performing requested work
  • Installing and testing products, equipment, and machinery
  • Providing instructions to customers on the proper usage of their product
  • Using diagnostic tools to identify issues and evaluate the available information
  • Fixing defective/broken products
  • Ordering the necessary parts to replace faulty or worn-out parts within existing equipment
  • Servicing equipment
  • Promoting the company’s services
  • Completing appropriate job reports while still at job site
  • Reporting back to appropriate personnel with customer inquiries
  • Keeping fleet vehicles clean and up to date on maintenance
  • Physical ability to lift heavy pieces of equipment, work in confined spaces, and bend frequently
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary
  • On call rotation
