Opportunity:
The Village of Dousman is seeking an energetic, experienced and seasoned individual to serve as Foreman of Public Works, Water and Wastewater Utilities in this full-service municipality. The Foreman is responsible for working with the Superintendent to manage day to day departmental operations, which includes employee management, program development, overseeing worksites, fleet services, traffic maintenance functions, safety and training programs; implementing policy; working with the public; evaluating Village services; maintains departmental productivity.
Day to day operations include vehicle maintenance, street maintenance, stormwater maintenance, park maintenance and snow removal also working the Village Water & Wastewater systems including pumps, hydrants & mains, municipal wells and lift stations as well as all operations of the Wastewater facility and collection systems. Candidates must have strong communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will have 2-4 years of water and wastewater experience; a proven managerial track record of supervising, evaluating, and problem solving.
The Village offers a flexible and casual work environment in a fast-growing community.
The successful candidate is on the on-call rotation which includes holidays and scheduled weekends (every third week). Typical weekly schedule is Monday through Thursday 6am-3pm, Friday 6am-10am.
Residency required within 30-minute travel time.
Required Minimum Qualifications/Education/Experience/Licensing:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Basic computer and mechanical experience desired.
- Current driver’s license with a good driving record; Must have CDL class A/B/C with air brake endorsement or be able to obtain a Class “A & B” CDL within one year of employment.
- Experience in Water and Wastewater, Wisconsin DNR Water & Wastewater Certifications, along with knowledge of Wastewater treatment plant equipment as well as operation with Water Distribution system, familiar with Wisconsin DNR monthly and yearly reporting and DNR regulations.
- Must have minimum of 2 years’ experience with following Wisconsin DNR Certifications
- Waterworks operator – G&D
- Wastewater operator –Advanced operator or over 1000 hours as Basic operator with following certifications, A1, B, C, D, N, P, SS and able to obtain Advanced operator certification within one year.
- Candidates are subject to a background investigation, physical exam, and drug screening including pre- employment screening.
