Wastewater Operator in Charge

City of Washburn is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Wastewater Operator in Charge within the Department of Public Works.  This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position requiring the successful applicant to work a schedule of Monday through Friday and any emergency or non-emergency callouts as determined by the City.

The successful candidate must have good working knowledge of wastewater treatment facilities; must have an outstanding driving record, must have and keep a Wisconsin General Wastewater Certificate and hold basic subclasses Suspended Growth Processes, Solid Separation, Biological Solids/Sludges, Total Phosphorus, Disinfection, Laboratory and Sanitary Sewage Collection (based on July 1, 2023, classification); and must have high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates must also successfully pass a physical examination and drug and alcohol screen, and background check.  Previous experience as a wastewater operator is required.  All other job requirements are outlined in the job description.

The pay range is $30.62 – $36.00 per hour depending upon experience and certifications.  Wage rates may be subject to wage progression based on qualifications.  Excellent fringe benefit package.
