WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATIONS FOREMAN-DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS WASTEWATER DIVISION

We are seeking individuals that are motivated and mechanically inclined with operational experience to join a close-knit team providing essential services in the Wastewater Division.

This is a skilled and technical position whose duties involve controlling, monitoring, and operating the wastewater plant and is considered a hands on job for all process equipment in each of the following areas: raw pumping station, preliminary treatment, primary treatment, biological activated sludge basins (live organisms), secondary treatment, final clarification, effluent disinfection, anaerobic digestion, sludge handling/processing, centrifuge and dewatering, polymer mixing system, and other chemical addition systems (pumps, compressors, conveyance, hydraulic, pneumatic, boiler, centrifuges, ultraviolet disinfection, clarifiers etc.)

This position also requires an understanding of the wastewater laboratory testing procedures: will need to perform process related lab tests in accordance with established procedures. Tests include total suspended solids, dissolved oxygen (BOD), pH testing, nitrate testing, total phosphorus, ortho-phosphorus, mixed liquor (organic mass), return activated sludge concentrations, waste activated sludge concentrations, sludge volume index (SVI), biosolids cake and centrate suspended & volatile solids, and microscopic evaluation of the living organism concentrations and species present. An understanding of these tests and results are required to make operational adjustments to the wastewater treatment plant processes to maintain optimal performance and permit compliance requirements for effluent discharge to the Rock River.

This person shall demonstrate the ability to be the back-up lab analyst for the laboratory manager and must be able to perform advanced level lab sampling and testing, and reporting.

The current pay range for this position is $29.78 – $38.29. The hiring range will be determined based on qualifications ~ DOQ. This is a full-time hourly position with current normal work hours from 6 am to 2 pm Monday – Friday (Flex schedule allowed) with a shared weekend rotation schedule.
